Tailgate Day

On Wednesday, November 10th we celebrated our annual Tailgate Day.  We participated in fun rotations like: training camp, marching band, game day books, game day journals, a taste of AU traditions, dance team, cheerleading, and facepainting.  Auburn University football players, cheerleaders, and Aubie joined us for a pep rally.  We also enjoyed a tailgate lunch.  It was an exciting day!

Fall Rotations

On Friday October 29th, the Yellow Pod did Fall Rotations.  The children got to visit each teacher’s classroom in the Yellow Pod and did Fall activities.  In my classroom we watched It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and the children got their faces painted.  Mrs. Mims did a Halloween candy graph with the children.  They also painted small pumpkins with Mrs. Caldwell and played Pumpkin Bingo with Mrs. Griffies. In Mrs. Sartain’s classroom they made a spider cupcake and got to eat it.

Field Trip to Auburn University Regional Airport

On Tuesday, October 26th, the Yellow Pod took a field trip to the Auburn University Regional Airport.  This helped to enhance our study of airplanes, airports, and airport jobs. 

These men talked to us about the fuel truck and how they put fuel in airplanes.

A student from the Flight Education Department talked to us about this airplane.  Each child was able to sit inside of it, get a close look at the cockpit, and use the yoke to practice taking off and landing.

Bill Hutto, the airport director, gave us a tour of the inside of the airport.  We were able to see the crew's lounge, the board room, and have our picture made with Bob the Tiger.

At the line station, we learned about directing airplanes on the ground to park, and a little about air traffic control.

We were able to go inside of the hangar and see an Auburn University jet.

AEEC Trike Ride

AEEC's 2nd annual Trike Ride was held on Friday, October 15th, and Mrs. Young's Zoomers did an excellent job.  They were super fast on the tricycles and did a great job of cheering on their friends.  We had a special appearance by the Tiger Cub, and Coach Robert was dressed up like a policeman to monitor speed.  The tradition of the Trike Ride is for the teachers to ride the last lap...and Mrs.  Young and Miss Jackson took on the challenge!  Trike Ride was a blast!
