Tailgate Day

We had an awesome Tailgate Day on Friday with some amazing weather! The children enjoyed themselves so much as we rotated through ten different stations, and had an exciting pep rally with the Auburn University cheerleaders and Aubie! We also had a tailgate lunch!

Fall Rotations

What an exciting time we had today at Fall Rotations! The children participated in many fun activities.  In Mrs. Mims room, the children made spider cupcakes.  In Miss Mac's class, they completed a pumpkin investigation. They measured the pumpkin, estimated how many seeds and found out that pumpkins float.  In Mrs. Lockhart's room, they participated in acorn relays and a few other movement activites!  In our classroom, they played pumpking math games.  They painted a small gourd pumpkin in Ms. Caldwell's room.  Finally, they did shared reading and made a pumpkin headband with Mrs. Kelly (Mrs. Jackson's class).

Beau the Bloodhound

On Friday, the Lifesouth Bloodbank team came to AEEC to do a presentation for your children. They talked to the kids about the different parts of blood and explained to them what each part is for. They explained the importance of donating blood, and they also "made" blood with Kool-aid and gummies. The children really enjoyed the presentation. We also had a special appearance by Beau the Bloodhound. He stopped by to say hi while the children were learning about blood!

Trike Ride

The fourth annual AEEC Trike Ride was held on Friday, and Mrs. Young's Terrific Tigers did an excellent job! They were very fast on the tricycles and did great at cheering their friends on when it wasn't their turn. We had a special snack after our ride as well. The tradition of the Trike Ride is for teachers to take the last lap... A special thanks to all of our parents for your hard work preparing for the Trike Ride this year!

Yellow Pod PTO Performance

The Yellow Pod performed at PTA on Monday, October 8th. We had a great turn out of children, and they did an excellent job singing. Mrs. H taught the children songs about the ocean and different fish to share with the parents who attended PTO.

Special Guest Reader

We had a very special visitor come and read to our class.  Mrs. Folmar, our assistant principal, read Skippyjon Jones.  As she read the book, we reviewed some words that we have been learning in Spanish.  The children enjoyed listening to Mrs. Folmar read.

Off to a Great Start

The 2012-2013 school year is off to a fantastic start!  It's hard to believe that it is already October and we have been in school for six weeks!  We are diving into our theme for the year, which is ocean.  More posts will be coming soon to show our learning.

Can I return...

During market, one of Mrs. Mims' students approached a salesman in our store asking if he could make a return.  The student realized he spent all of his pennies and the green Emerald Tree Boa keychain was the most expensive item he purchased.  The salesman made the decision to allow the return and the customer's money was refunded.  This was a first for me in my many experiences with market!

Fruits of the Forest at the Rainforest Market

Our market was on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Our store was named "Fruits of the Forest". The items that we sold are Emerald Tree Boa keychains & puppets, rainforest trail mix, Harpy Eagle bottles, rainforest bank, anteaters, binoculars, and Blue Morpho butterflies. Each child got a chance to shop at other stores in the pod. They also got a chance to sell the items that we made to the other classes in the Yellow Pod. Our class had some really good salesmen. We sold all of our products!
